Defeated by the Capital Gains Tax
Stacy had just sold a bunch of old shares she had inherited from her mother and was getting ready to pamper herself like never before. Barely had she put her plans in order that she was stopped in her tracks by her accountant who began spouting terms like capital gains tax, bank overdrafts and credit card bills at her. Stacy had always found financial matters depressing and no one could bring on a depressive episode like her accountant. She could already see her plans for a shopping trip to New York, followed by a cruise and a lazy holiday in St. Tropez evaporating before her eyes. She was aware that she spent too much and maxed out her cards more than she should. The fact of the matter was that she believed life was for enjoying and money was for spending. This capital gains tax may have given her plans a pause but she would persevere and find her way out of this muddle.
